SHOULD THE CAVS SIT OUT KYRIE FOR THE NBA FINALS?
Thus far the 2015 Eastern Conference Finals has been dominated by the Cleveland Cavaliers despite the adversity and injuries that they have dealt with throughout the post season. They lost All-Star Power Forward Kevin Love in the first round due to a dislocated shoulder, J.R. Smith had served a 2-game suspension and now the All-Star Point Guard Kyrie Irving is dealing with both a right ankle sprain and tendinitis in his left knee. The injuries have been frustrating, to say the least, but it hasn't stopped the Cavs from advancing through the playoffs and they currently hold a commanding 2 - 0 games lead against the #1 seeded Atlanta Hawks. Cleveland has transformed from one of the worst defensive teams in the beginning of the regular season to the best defensive team in the post season. Irving's effectiveness has digressed throughout the last few playoff rounds and has become so frustrated with his lingering injuries that he had reportedly sought out a second opinion on his left knee tendinitis with the heralded orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews to be ensured that there was no additional damage as a result of his attempts to play through the pain. The MRI conducted by Dr Andrews confirmed there was no additional damage that would require surgery and offered a different remedy plan to treat Irving's tendinitis. The dilemma that the Cavaliers face is whether to preserve their star point guard for a potential NBA Finals appearance at as close to 100% as possible or getting him back out on the court against a struggling, but dangerous Atlanta Hawks team to reassure their advancement to the final round of the playoffs against the Western Conference Champion. The current predicament appears to sway in the direction of holding him out as long as possible because the team looks like they could capture the Eastern Conference Title without his services after claiming both games in Atlanta with the series moving to Cleveland for Games 3 & 4 starting Sunday. It basically comes down to if you would rather have Kyrie Irving at maybe 50% for the Eastern Conference Final round or have him at maybe 85% - 90% for the NBA Finals against a more formidable opponent.

TREY SONGZ' NEW SINGLE IS ALL "ABOUT YOU"...
Songbook Entertainment/Atlantic international recording superstar Trey Songz has announced details of his new single. “About You” – which marks the latest single from Trey’s upcoming album, “TRIGGA RELOADED” – is available at all DSPs today; “TRIGGA RELOADED” drops everywhere on June 23rd.
Songz is heralding “About You” with a unique fan experience on his official website (http://www.treysongz.com/aboutyou), where users’ own selfies are combined to re-create the single’s original artwork by selecting photos from Instagram. To create your own custom “About You” artwork, visit http://www.treysongz.com/aboutyou.
“About You” arrives hot on the heels of “Slow Motion,” the sultry first single from “TRIGGA RELOADED.” The track is a multi-format favorite, with major play at Urban Mainstream, Rhythm, and Mixshow. In addition, the “Slow Motion” official companion video – directed by Dre Films – is a YouTube phenomenon, with total views now in excess of 32 million at www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXTBbM21plg.
What’s more, Trey surprised fans this spring with the release of “INTERMISSION,” an exclusive mixtape featuring five all-new tracks, and his “TRIGGA RELOADED: THE INTERMISSION” Documentary. “INTERMISSION” earned widespread acclaim, with Pitchfork noting the EP “does what Trey does best: provide a no-skips-required sex playlist, or at least an escapist fantasy for zoning out at your desk. The satiny synths, leisurely finger-snap percussion, and evocative bass rumbles, all providing a cushion for Trey’s velvety tenor, are the aural equivalent of scattered rose petals and lit candles.” His “INTERMISSION I & II” mixtape made its digital premiere yesterday, complimented by six all-new tracks.
“A lot has happened in a year,” Trey says, “and after most recently completing two mega tours from the US to Europe, I felt re-energized by the love and wanted to share this glimpse of the journey while giving my fans some new music. The love I've received is beyond belief, I've attempted to reciprocate it by sharing this vulnerable yet genuine piece."
Trey – who, as noted, only recently wrapped sold out tours of the US and Europe alongside such like-minded artists as Nickl Minaj, Chris Brown, and Tyga – has a number of high profile live dates slated throughout the summer. Highlights include an historic headline concert celebrating Namibia’s 25th Independence Day, billed for May 30th at Windhoek’s Independence Stadium, followed by a string of major festival appearances including Hot 97’s Summer Jam 2015 at East Rutherford, NJ’s MetLife Stadium (June 7th), Oakland, CA’s KMEL Summer Jam 2015 (June 13th), Detroit, MI’s WJLB Big Show @ The Joe (June 19th), and Chicago, IL’s 107.5 WGCI Presents Summer Jam 2015 (June 20th). As if all that weren’t enough, Trey will make his sixth consecutive annual appearance at the 2015 Essence Festival™ Presented By Coca-Cola®, kicking off this year’s festivities by co-headlining the Essence “Now Playing” Concert Sponsored By Verizon alongside the one and only Kevin Hart, set for July 2nd at New Orleans’ Mercedes-Benz Superdome. For updates and ticket information, please see www.treysongz.com/tour.
Named “Best R&B/Soul Male Artist” at the Soul Train Awards 2014, Trey was also among the “Top R&B Artist” nominees for the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, which aired on May 17th from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Trey made an awesome chart debut with his acclaimed 2014 album, “TRIGGA.” The collection – which includes the hit singles “Touchin, Lovin (Feat. Nicki Minaj),” “What’s Best For You” and the RIAA gold certified “Na Na” – entered the SoundScan/Billboard 200 at #1, with sales in excess of 105,000. In addition, “TRIGGA” debuted at #1 on Billboard’s “Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums” ranking. Trey’s sixth studio collection, “TRIGGA” follows 2012’s blockbuster “CHAPTER V,” which debuted at #1 on both the SoundScan/Billboard 200 and Billboard’s “Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums” charts, fueled by such hit singles as “Heart Attack” and “Simply Amazing.”
With “TRIGGA,” Trey Songz crafted his most intimate album yet, an honest and courageous set that more than confirms his status as the undisputed master of modern R&B, pop, and soul. The album is deeply personal and intensely creative, with songs like the international smash, “Change Your Mind” revealing a unique glimpse at the GRAMMY® Award-nominated superstar as a whole. What’s more, “TRIGGA” sees contributions from an array of stars, including Justin Bieber, Juicy J, Mila J and fellow Atlantic recording artist and rising R&B star Ty Dolla $ign.
“TRIGGA” received a wide range of critical applause upon its arrival, with SPIN hailing it as “a sublime, soulful convergence of the sonic minimalism and oil-slicked synths of today's hip-hop and R&B,” adding, “a 20-track album (!) never felt so breezy.” “TRIGGA” “shows (Trey’s) hitmaking abilities are at veterans levels at this point,” noted XXL, while in the UK, The Guardian praised the album for having “a seductive power that (one presumes) is befitting of the man himself.” “Trey Songz has been one of the last decade’s most dependable hit record-making artists,” declared Hip Hop DX. “In hearkening back to his roots, he showcases his desire to not slow down for 10 more years. Wild, yet well-delivered songs showcase Songz as a master of a now lyrically unrestrained mainstream R&B standard.”

Game of Thrones Roundup: One Rape Too Many?
This past week saw a harrowing moment on Game of Thrones sparking debate on social media. Any seasoned fan of the HBO series will know Thrones prides itself at shocking audiences. For the past five years, the show has strangled the life out of any hope for justice in the fantasy world of Westeros. If you haven't watched the phenomenon that is Game of Thrones, you are doing yourself a disservice. To your surprise, you'll find it's much more akin to Sopranos or The Wire than the likes of The Hobbit or Lord of the Rings. Its audience has come to expect character driven plots involving deadly political maneuvering and assassinations. We've watched season after season with main characters meeting a bloody end with no vengeance in sight. We've also seen a healthy dose of gratuitous nudity, subjugation of women, and the occasional rape scene.
*Spoiler Alert(s) for those who haven't watched up to episode 6 of season 5*
Having already experienced all the atrocities Thrones have thrown at its audience throughout the years, why the big fall out over the latest rape scene? Shouldn't we be desensitized or more understanding of the despicable actions regularly occuring in Westeros? That's really a question for audience members to think about and answer individually. Its significance could be colored by whether or not you've read the original novels the series is based on.
The particular rape scene being discussed on social media involves Sansa and Ramsey while Theon/Reek watches on. The face Alfie Allen depicts in character as Theon/Reek accurately reflects the anguish I felt while watching. With the scene slowly unfolding, the certainty of menace unveiled itself so uncomfortably. Sansa spent her wedding night losing her virginity to one of the sickest characters birthed by the imagination of George R.R. Martin, writer of the novels. Anyone who remembers King Joffrey, knows that's saying a lot and how dangerous these characters can be.
It's not fair to only focus on this one scene. The sixth episode of the season had some pretty incredible and hilarious moments. Everyone's favorite little assassin, Arya, finally made some progress at the House of Black. She's well on her way to murderous vengeance we're all dying to see. Grandma Tyrell is back in fine sassy form, putting the scheming Cersei in her place. The bromance between Tyrion and Jorah is solidified while facing slave traders and possible dwarf cock merchants. Outside of 'the scene' in this weeks episode, the only weak points were in Dorne. This whole season seems to be struggling to make Dorne's role in the larger narrative a compelling aspect of the series. We've had scarce time with the Sand Snakes and company. Their appearance comes off as both cheesy and muted when compared against the talented cast of actors elsewhere in Westeros. Daenerys' storyline in Mereen has been a drag for a few seasons, but things are looking more interesting heading into the tail end of the current season.
The direction of the show is diverging wildly from the source material, sparking ire amongst fans of the book. I can't help but think this plays a large part in the online outrage with what's happened to Sansa. In the books a decidedly more vicious rape scene occurs between Ramsey and another character he marries. Not only has the show deviated from its source material, but it's also gone out on a limb to set up a beloved character to once again be tortured and humiliated. We've seen Sansa barely escape Joffrey earlier in the series. We've seen her be manipulated by the calculating Petyr Baelish. We all know what to expect from Game of Thrones at this point, but good grief Thrones writers, give us some sort of hope.
I won't personally say this scene is a mistake. The frequency of rapes and abuse inflicted on women in this serious is ridiculous, even by HBO standards. However the scene worked in being impactful. Despite the horror Sansa faced in this episode, she had an earlier moment of triumph when confronting Ramsey's lover. She's showed a spark of resilience and even a cunning ability to 'play the game' before. The rape scene wasn't visually as brutal we know Thrones can be. But Theon/Reek's face mixed with Sansa's whimpers of terror was enough to make this one of the more difficult scenes of the series.
I can only hope this means vengeance is that much closer to happening for the Starks. There's no way the show writers can leave us with such a horrific scene without seeing a spectacular fall for Ramsey. Stannis is headed to Winterfell, Lord Baelish is promising to quell the remnants of the victor, and Daenerys is still planning to scorch out all her opponents in King's Landing with her dragons. Despite the epic struggles ahead, it'll be Sansa's rise I'm keen on seeing. Enough with being a victim already. We're all ready to see her become a real player in the Game of Thrones and stick it to Ramsey. His days on the show had better be numbered.

Cleveland Teen, Malcupnext, to Release Debut Single May 19...
Cleveland has been on the uprise in terms of music lately, and that trend is set to continue with the upcoming release from rising star Malcolm White. Working under the stage name #Malcupnext, he hails from right here on the streets of Cleveland, and is signed as the premiere act on Camp Purple, a label headed by Big Boi of Outkast and Mr DJ, Outkast's original DJ & Dungeon Family alumni!
All the buzz literally began from Malcolm and his friend, Brycen Hunt, posting videos of him singing songs like John Legend's Ordinary People via Twitter & Instagram. The videos instantly went viral, and now he's prepared to release his first single, "This Feeling", May 19.
Surely, it all must be absolutely surreal for the 14-year old Cleveland native. It was only 2 months ago that Malcolm and his friend were interviewed by Wayne Dawson on Fox 8 Cleveland's local morning show (see it here), and now, he's aligned to do huge things in music. It's one thing to be noticed for your talent, but when you're noticed by someone has big as Big Boi, it speaks wonders for your talent. Camp Purple is not Big's first foray into artist development. He first headed up Aquemini Records, which later became Purple Ribbon Entertainment. He was behind the early success of rapper Killer Mike, as well as the success of Janelle Monae. Both were signed to Purple Ribbon. If their current success is any bit of indication, Malcupnext's career will definitely soar.
Take a moment to visit his Instagram account, @malcupnext, to see recent videos, and be sure to stay tuned into UGDigital for updates.
Empire Adds More Episodes, More Music...
Fox's Empire has just received a welcome addition in the form of additional episodes, and added musical production. R&B Superstar Ne-yo has been added to the fold, and will join Timbaland in providing the musical landscape for Season two of the hit television series which debuted earlier this year.
Season two will now include 18 episodes, much different from Season one's featuring 12 episodes. It was confirmed in a recent conference call by Chairman and CEO Dana Walden that the upcoming season will lead off with 9 episodes, only to end with a cliffhanger, and return for a Spring run of 9 more episodes. The series, created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, has been a huge success since its debut, and viewers are already clamoring for a new season to begin. Walden also hinted at new guest appearances for the show, while she didn't elaborate on who those guests were to include.
It was also confirmed in today's conference call that R&B superstar Ne-yo has signed on, and will join producer Timbaland in providing the musical landscape for the series.
Empire will return to its regular Wednesday line-up in the Fall.
NFL PUTS HAMMER DOWN ON TOM BRADY AND NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
After weeks of speculation regarding potential forms punishments to Superbowl MVP quarterback Tom Brady and the New England Patriots for the alleged 'inflate gate', the NFL finally acted upon it. Brady will be suspended up to 4 games without pay and the Patriot organization was fined one million dollars. They also will lose two future draft choices, which will be their 2016 1st round pick and 2017 4th round selection. It was initially thought around NFL circles that the golden boy of the league would possibly get just a slap on the wrist for his probable role in this act by way of a fine, but that definitely wasn't the case here.
Community: Justice Prevails in Case of Murdered Cleveland Family...
Six months after the murders of a Cleveland family, a suspect has been arrested and charged with their killings. 19-year old James E. Sparks-Henderson has been arrested and charged with five counts of aggravated murder.
In November 2014, 41-year old Sherita Johnson was murdered along with her unborn baby, 19-year old son Ja'Rio Taylor, his 17-year old girlfriend Shaylona Williams, and her 60-year old boyfriend, Lemon Bryant. Her 9-year old daughter was shot as well, but survived the ordeal.
In December, we had the opportunity to feature family members of Sherita Johnson on Urban Grandstand Live! They headed a march on New Years' Day to not only honor the memories of his lost loved ones, but to encourage the community to speak up about what they may have seen.
No details have been released regarding any possible motive, or the connection between Sparks-Henderson and the deceased. Continue to check back, as we'll keep you updated as the story progresses.
Review: The Avengers Assemble... Was It Worth The Wait?
Opening with the second highest weekend box office at 191.3 million, Avengers shows just how strong Marvel's brand is. Some suggest it's something of a disappointment when factoring it couldn't surpass its predecessor. Considering the sporting events this past weekend, namely the much publicized bout between Mayweather and Pacquiao, it's no wonder there was a steep decline in its box office revenue Saturday.
Sporting events aside, critics haven't trashed the sequel, but they certainly aren't gushing over it like the original. I wanted to check the film out myself before letting the critics skew my opinion. The first Avengers surprised the hell out of me. They were able to weave the heroes into a competent storyline. They successfully expanded the Marvel universe, prepping us for what's in store and offering insane action sequences. It's odd, because the sequel suffers a bit based on that formula.
Let's get one thing straight. Avengers Age of Ultron does not disappoint as a piece of pure entertainment. The insane action is there along with set up for even more epic struggles to come. However, from the original Avengers, Thor, Iron Man 3, and Winter Soldier, the experience was somewhat muted. The pacing felt overly deliberate with certain parts feeling contrived. It wasn't as tightly strewn together as the original, instead hinting at more interesting character development and encounters in future film outings.
The disappointment isn't so much in the execution of this tried in true formula. There is clearly a need to up the ante in the stakes these heroes face. Rumors surrounding the third Captain America film has Tony Stark and Steve Rogers at odds, hence why it's called 'Civil War'. Age of Ultron toys with tensions amongst these guys but it fizzles fast. Hulk and Black Widow share a budding romance, forcing the green guy to make a tough choice. Hawkeye has an elaborate backstory established just to throw us off in a later crucial scene.
Everyone disappears into character very well and Ultron itself is convincingly deviant as a foe. The addition of the various subplots just didn't have the same payoff as in previous Marvel films. Personally I'm still trying to figure out the point of Rogers flashback. The focus on planting obvious seeds for future films takes the focus from what's actually going on. Despite this, the only throwaway characters forced on you were Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver. Thankfully they weren't in the film long enough to leave too negative of an impression.
The bottom line is the film delivered on entertaining me. It would have made a much better rental than paying for a movie ticket, however. Yes, like some reviews are saying it's more of the same. The addition of new characters left a little to be desired. The side stories this time around were more flaccid then in its original film. The comedic tone was a bit too overplayed. But all in all, the Avengers themselves shined.
Marvel's shown why these characters deserve to continue on, no matter how long it takes to get to a final showdown with Thanos. With the second largest opening ever, they proved they have plenty of well deserved interest. With multiple properties stretching from Netflix, television, and film, they'll get another crack at making the near perfect showcase the original Avengers proved to be. You don't have to see this film right away, but it's a definite must watch for any true fan.

Mayweather Claims Victory in Bout Against Manny Pacquiao...
With votes from two judges of 116-112, and from a third of 112-110, Mayweather has taken the win against Manny Pacquiao in tonight's fight! With tonight's win, Floyd will retain both his WBA and WBC titles, and now he claims Pacquiao's WBO belt!
Despite Mayweather having an obvious record of 47-0 with 25 KO's (He's now at 48-0, 26 KO's), there were many, for whatever reason, that we're hoping for a victory in favor of Pacquiao. That notion became evident when Mayweather was announced as the winner, and the crowd burst with a series of boo's. Of course, none of that phased Mayweather.
This was undoubtedly the most lucrative fight of his career, not to mention boxing history, bringing in an estimated $400 million.
Floyd stated again tonight that following his next fight in September, he would be hanging up his boxing gloves for good.
