Nationally Syndicated Radio Host, Jasmine Sanders, who can be heard daily via The D.L. Hughley Show, has been tapped for Impact TV Network’s Covid-19 Special, aimed at communities of color. The program will debut Sunday, October 3, 2021.
COVID IN COLOR: Road to Recovery townhall, is the first in a series of televised forums that explore the effects of COVID-19 on communities of color and offer resources to take action. The townhall, which will air at 11:30 AM EST on Sunday, October 3, furthers the network’s mission of expanding on community-driven initiatives that amplify Black voices and reach vulnerable populations that have been unequally impacted by the pandemic.
Hosted by Jasmine Sanders—award-winning radio personality and co-host of the nationally syndicated D.L. Hughley Show, which reaches more than 20 million monthly listeners across over 70 markets nationwide—this townhall begins to address ways to remedy, recover, and revitalize communities of color from COVID-19.
“Covid in Color tells me right away that Covid has affected people of color—because you’re saying Covid is ‘in color’—and it is. And I think that no one sees that more than this particular network, which is why this townhall is so important, so we can see what is happening to our communities. No one can tell our story the way that we can. And I think it is time that we start telling our stories,” said Jasmine Sanders, moderator of the series. “I want people to watch the Covid in Color townhall special and walk away with more information about social issues—and not just the issues, because we’re familiar with that—but solutions. We just need you to watch, and be active as well, because this battle with Covid—you cannot sit still. One of the things that Covid does—it counts on you being still. And I think that’s what this Covid in Color is all about: economically, educationally, socially—all of that is about movement. We cannot sit still.”
“The Covid in Color townhall series is an expansion of the network’s vision to elevate Black stories in the public eye and offer a supportive forum to those disproportionately affected by the ongoing pandemic,” said Bishop Wayne Jackson, founder and CEO of The Impact Network.
“Healing from the pandemic begins with acknowledging the particular—and disproportionate—ways it has influenced communities of color,” said Royal Jackson, chief brand officer of The Impact Network who is also producing the series. “The Covid in Color townhalls aim to bring these realities to light and offer us some paths forward.”
