In a shocking announcement heard loud around the world, prosecutors have confirmed that charges will be filed in the case of Freddie Gray, who was injured while being arrested by Baltimore Police, and later died as a result of his injuries.
In all, six officers on the Baltimore Police force will be charged as a result of Gray's death. Gray suffered a "severe and critical neck injury" after being handcuffed and shackled, and unrestrained in a police van. Charges range from second-degree assault and involuntary manslaughter to second-degree depraved heart murder, which in essences classifies Gray's murder as unintentional. Warrants have been issued for the arrest of each officer, and each is expected to be arraigned as the day proceeds.
