Reconnecting with Meelah has been one of my more satisfying opportunities this year. Just being honest, any time working with Meelah is beyond a pleasure. Sometimes; in this media and entertainment business, you simply encounter those who know their value, know who they are, and quite frankly are about their business at all times. That; without a doubt, is Meelah Williams. Let’s dig a little deeper here.

If you’re what we consider a nineties baby when it comes to music, then you know who Meelah is musically. Her track history; which includes her brilliance as a member of 702, and work alongside such luminaries as Missy Elliott, Timbaland, and so many others, speaks for itself in every way. Whether with her group, or solo, she has built a solid presence throughout the years. On top of that, she’s dabbled in reality television, along other things. Her latest work; arguably, proves to be the most fulfilling, as it dials directly into her everyday life. Meelah recently debuted what I’m sure she’ll say is her greatest work; her new children’s book, Zac’s Favorite Socks.

With this premier release as an author, Meelah taps into the kind of a young boy who; on the brink of starting his first day of first grade, can’t find his favorite socks. Those socks represents everything it will take to make it through the day, or so he thinks. It’s an amazing story that touches many-a-household as so many of us have children who have experienced this in one way or another. The greatest highlight of this book is it connects directly to Meelah’s son, Zac, who is autistic. Imagine; just for a moment, a book is released that centers around you and your experiences as a growing child! Absolutely amazing.

It’s beautiful that Meelah is utilizing her platform to shine light on the worlds of autistic children, and the super-parents who use their love and creativity to help those children deal with the world around them and the disadvantages they see because of their developmental troubles. Through Zac’s Favorite Socks, they absolutely are being taught how to adapt to new environments, build their confidence, and understand the love and understanding that surrounds them. The universality of this project lies in the fact this doesn’t only relate to those with autism, but to every child and parent.

For Meelah, this marks a marvelous transition in her career that has already span decades. I’m a climate where many celebrities are struggling to maintain purpose and relevance, Meelah has grown and expanded her purpose to present what already appears to be the first in a possible series of books.

Bravo Meelah! Bravo!
